My Presence Shall Go Before You
Joshua was a great hero in the bible who leads the people of Israel into the Promised Land after the death of Moses. Joshua was the right hand man for Moses helping him to lead the children of Israelites (Exodus: 24:13).
Even in our lives God will place mentors, parents, Pastors and Godly friends who will shape or help us for our future assignments. Joshua was faithful in serving Moses. God saw His faithfulness and made him the next leader of the Israelites. When we are faithful in little things God will make you a master over many things.
Secondly, God will raise us to our destiny only in His perfect timing (Joshua 1:1). When Moses died God called Joshua and gave him new assignment. Many times in our life our situation may seem so hard it forces us to move on, instead of waiting for God’s timing. We must wait patiently until God shows our new assignments. When God saw that Joshua was faithful and ready to move forward at His command, God made a promise to Him. He told Joshua, “be bold and courageous as I was with Moses I will be with you and no one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life.”
When God sends you He will back you up with His power that wherever you go, people will see the power of God backing you in your destiny. When God showed His new assignment, Joshua immediately responded by faith and was ready to go. He not only had a strategy but told the Israelites that in three days they will cross over to the Promised Land.
Many times we see in the bible that God shows us the destination, but we have to walk by faith trusting in His presence as He leads us. Joshua knew that he had to trust God and move by faith to the Promised Land. Joshua told the priests that the presence of the Lord must go before us when we go to battle because we do not know the way. When they let the ark of the Lord move forward, the Jordan River was divided, and the people crossed over and the walls of Jericho fell down when they shouted and praised God.
Do you have a Jordan River or a wall of Jericho in your path that has to come down?
Make this your prayer and ask the presence of the Lord to go before you. His desire is to go before you. He wants to make you the head and not the tail. He wants to raise you up and make you stand on mountain top. As Moses prayed ask the Lord for His presence to go before you today, and make you a blessing to your family, community and to your country. God will not only help you but is able to do exceedingly abundantly beyond all that we can imagine or ask.
